Supporting, Protecting and Defending - Global Education for Girls

The International Service Project (ISP) Committee addresses global issues related to the social, educational and economic empowerment of women and girls throughout Africa and the Caribbean.

Through service and social action, ISP implements programs and activities that:

  • Foster international awareness and cross-cultural understanding of the lives of women and girls in developing countries
  • Promote the U.N. Millennium Development Goals of eradicating extreme poverty, ensuring universal access to education, achieving gender equity and improving maternal and child health outcomes
  • Provide financial support for young women and girls in our partner countries to complete their high school and post-secondary education

Partnership Spotlight
I Can Fly PC International

The International Service Project Committee has recently partnered with I Can Fly International in Makakoi Village in the Machakos District of Kenya. I Can Fly High School (ICFHS), the first of its kind in the area, is a year-round secondary boarding school that educates youth in eleven subjects. In addition to collecting books and personal supplies for the students at ICFHS, ISP is also sponsoring the education of one of its female students for the 2014 - 1015 school term. ISP seeks to help remove the financial barriers that often prevent women and girls from fulfilling their educational dreams and career aspirations. The International Service Project Committee hosts global awareness events throughout the year to further educate ourselves, and our community on the plight of women internationally. ISP is also planning a volunteering trip to Haiti in the spring of 2015.
