FIVE-POINT PROGRAMMATIC THRUST
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Economic Development Committee educates sorors and the community through the implementation of various workshops and talent competitions that are designed to increase financial awareness and reduce the stress that many are experiencing related to financial health and wealth.
The committee also assists in setting and defining goals, developing a plan to achieve them, and to put the plan into action.
EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Century City Alumnae Chapter implements three youth programs that are considered part of our Educational Development programmatic thrust. These programs are intended to help shape our youth and provide guidance in the community by furthering their reach and giving the the tools to succeed in all areas of life. INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS & INVOLVEMENT
Supporting, Protecting and Defending - Global Education for Girls

The International Awareness & Involvement Committee (IAIC) addresses global issues related to the social, educational and economic empowerment of women and girls throughout Africa and the Caribbean.
​
Through service and social action, IAIC implements programs and activities that:

Foster international awareness and cross-cultural understanding of the lives of women and girls in developing countries.

Promote the U.N. Millennium Development Goals of eradicating extreme poverty, ensuring universal access to education, achieving gender equity and improving maternal and child health outcomes.

Provide financial support for young women and girls in our partner countries to complete their high school and post-secondary education.

Partnership Spotlight
​
The International Awareness & Involvement Committee has recently partnered with I Can Fly International in Makakoi Village in the Machakos District of Kenya. I Can Fly High School (ICFHS), the first of its kind in the area, is a year-round secondary boarding school that educates youth in eleven subjects. In addition to collecting books and personal supplies for the students at ICFHS.
IAIC seeks to help remove the financial barriers that often prevent women and girls from fulfilling their educational dreams and career aspirations. The International Awareness & Involvement Committee hosts global awareness events throughout the year to further educate ourselves, and our community on the plight of women internationally.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH
The Physical and Mental Health Committee addresses the health and fitness needs of the members of Century City Alumnae Chapter and the community. The committee helps to focus on achieving the goals of national programs.
The committee organizes promotion of activities within the community that emphasize awareness of diseases that impact people of African descent.
POLITICAL AWARENESS & INVOLVEMENT
The Social Action Committee implements the Social Action Agenda as prescribed by the National Social Action Commission and Regional Social Action Coordinator of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Century City Alumnae Chapter is actively involved in service oriented events that promote advocacy and community awareness, with an emphasis on social and political issues.
